Friends, I am beside myself with excitement to announce this very special Mindful Wine Sip & Savor Portugal Harvest 2024 Tour!
Taking place next fall from Sept 28-Oct 5, 2024, this 8-day tour embraces everything I love about wine and travel, with a rare opportunity to experience Portugal's vibrant natural wine scene with the locals.
In partnership with Catavino Tours, our itinerary has been expertly curated to highlight the ancient history, scenic beauty, and rich culture of Portugal while showcasing some of the region's most exciting natural growers and artisans...and so much more.
Our home base will be the ancient city of Oporto (Porto) in northern Portugal. Located along the Douro River, Oporto is one of the oldest European cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wine has been part of human culture here as far back as the 8th Century BC, when the Phoenicians first settled at the river's mouth and established a trading hub, bringing vines with them. The area has played a major role in global exploration and trade throughout the many centuries to follow, and the bustling "City of Bridges" continues to be a gastronomic epicenter.
Guided by yours truly and our local Portuguese wine expert Ryan Opaz, we will explore the city sights and venture into the surrounding wine country. Through shared meals, glorious vistas, and many glasses of wine, we will immerse ourselves in the history, ecology and viticultural diversity that makes Portugal one of the most exciting destinations for wine lovers.
Fall is the best time to visit, with the thrill of harvest in full swing and the villages bustling with life. What makes this trip particularly special is our elevated food and wine itinerary that has been designed with every intention to give you in the very best that this region has to offer.
As your sommelier and host with Ryan's guiding hand, we will be taking you to some very special food and wine experiences including Michelin-star dining, private villas, trendy natural wine bars, historic sites and off-the-beaten-path wineries.
We will meet local winemakers, enjoy VIP access to taste and buy rare natural wines, take cooking classes AND participate in a traditional Portuguese grape stomp harvest ritual—can it get any better??
