Mindful Wine Journal: Producer Spotlight
Lo-Fi Wines | Los Alamos, CA
Lo-Fi Wines is the partnership between winemakers Mike Roth and Craig Winchester, born out of a desire to make the style of "glou glou" wine they liked to drink. Embracing the “nothing added, nothing taken” philosophy Lo-Fi quickly became the epicenter of Santa Barbara County’s natural wine movement. They make small lot, hand-crafted natural wine, using neutral barrels, native yeasts, and little to no sulfur additions or chemical adjustments. Their wines are made to be enjoyed, pure and simple. All their vineyard sources are organic or Biodynamic.
What we love...
2019 LO-FI SANTA BARBARA COUNTY ROSE
70% Cabernet Franc, 15% Gamay, 15% Pinot Noir. Lo-Fi sources from only organic and Biodynamic vineyards for their wines, which are made to be enjoyed. Whole cluster carbonic maceration of the Pinot and Gamay brings the fruit forward in this juicy, dry rose, with peppery notes off-setting bright cranberry and raspberry flavors.
Pairing Notes: Grilled Mediterranean kebabs with all the trimmings.
