I am so excited to debut the HARVEST CLUB — a new wine subscription focusing on consciously farmed CA wines available for residents of the Los Angeles area through local retailer, Mission Wines.
Here’s a peek at the inaugural August offering, featuring Santa Barbara County delights from Solminer Wine, Black Sheep Finds, Pence Vineyards, and A Tribute to Grace.
Born out of a concept I’ve been thinking about for a while, and an extension of my mission to connect people and place through wine, this new program is a seasonal mix of six bottles per month of organic, Biodynamic and sustainably farmed wines from all the awesome producers in the Central Coast and Southern California I’ve come to know and love.
The goal is to provide a hassle-free, time-saving way for conscientious LA wine drinkers to discover and enjoy more organic, Biodynamic and seasonally inspired wines from all the amazing producers in our very own back yard.
I hope for this to grow and expand. I also have plans to create and offer fun interactive virtual and in person tasting experiences with featured producers...Stay tuned!
2019 A TRIBUTE TO GRACE "HIGHLANDS VINEYARD" SANTA BARBARA COUNTY ROSE
100% Grenache. This fragrant, dry rose of Grenache comes from a consciously farmed single vineyard and offers floral and peach notes with delicate strawberry flavors.
Try it with: Summer stone fruit and tomato salad
2018 HOLUS BOLUS SANTA MARIA VALLEY ROUSSANNE
100% Roussanne. From a Biodynamically farmed portion of the Bien Nacido Vineyard, this classic white Rhone grape was made in a style to emphasize freshness, balancing its ripe apricot, pear and honey notes.
Try it with: From spicy Thai food to a rustic French pate, this versatile white inspires creative pairings. Co-Founder/Winemaker Peter Hunken loves this with South Indian rava dosas, “a touch spicy but delicious and filling!”
2019 SOLMINER "CURARSE LA CRUDA" LOS OLIVOS DISTRICT SKIN FERMENTED GRUNER VELTLINER
100% Grüner Veltliner. From Solminer's Biodynamic estate De Landa Vineyard, this fermented on the skins, resulting in its beautiful golden orange color, notes of citrus zest and a savory finish.
Try it with: Chicken roasted with oranges and rosemary
2018 PENCE VINEYARDS SANTA RITA HILLS PINOT NOIR
100% Pinot Noir. This fragrant French-inspired Pinot Noir from Pence’s organically farmed vineyards in cool-climate Sta. Rita Hills shows bright red fruit aromas and flavors with underlying earthy notes.
Try it with: Seared duck breast with wild mushrooms and greens
2018 SOLMINER "RUBELLITE" SANTA YNEZ VALLEY SYRAH-GRENACHE BLEND
72% Syrah, 27% Grenache, 1% Riesling. Rubellite is a rare, luminous red gem and an apt name for this wine, a Syrah-based blend with a brilliant red color and notes of raspberry, blackberry, wild herbs and smoky spice.
Try it with: Carne asada and al pastor tacos - give it a chill for extra refreshment! Or, to quote the folks at Solminer: “absolutely, anything, anytime, anywhere. Seriously.”
2017 A TRIBUTE TO GRACE SANTA BARBARA COUNTY GRENACHE
100% Grenache. From several consciously farmed vineyard blocks across the county, this shows classic Grenach fruit intensity with notes of black cherry, Mediterranean garrigue, and black olive.
Try it with: Roasted lamb studded with garlic and herbs.
