Amplify Wines | Santa Barbara County, CA
Cameron and Marlen Porter are the husband and wife team behind Amplify Wines. Born and raised in Santa Barbara County, Amplify is a natural extension of this marriage between their two greatest passions: wine and music. As winemakers, they seek to amplify the voice of site, marrying a sense of place with a sense of style. They believe in native yeast fermentation, neutral vessels for fermentation and aging, and no additions of any kind except for minimum effective sulfur dioxide. Their farming philosophy is based on establishing a healthy ecosystem, enhancing and supporting the natural characteristics of a given place. They embrace the happy accident, letting intuition guide their hand, with creative spirit and palates as the primary tools.
What we love...
2019 AMPLIFY SANTA BARBARA COUNTY ALBARINO
From an organically farmed vineyard and aged in neutral oak for seven months, this is fleshy and mouth-filling, with the evocative peach and floral notes of old world Albariño offset by the saline minerality that has become a hallmark of Santa Barbara County. 100% Albarino.
Try it with: Grilled octopus, seafood paella, or really, anything from the sea.
2018 AMPLIFY SANTA BARBARA COUNTY TEMPRANILLO
From the same organically farmed vineyard as their Albarino, this was aged with a small portion in old American oak, in honor of the classic Rioja tradition. Red fruits and dusty earth mingle with notes of sweet spice for a wine with the freshness of the Central Coast and the complexity reminiscent of the great Tempranillos of Spain. 100% Tempranillo.
Try it with: Roast pork, lamb, game; your favorite cheese and charcuterie.
